Convince me Adderall is bad

Recommended Posts

I recently emailed this to Mike, which was immediately I discovered that there was a forum with enough activity to justify reposting it here. So here.....

(For consistency's sake, I'm not going to edit it(since I wrote it in intending for only Mike to read it).)

So I don't have ADD. but a friend game me some Ritalin for a math test, which drove me to get some Adderall from another friend for various reasons.

At one point, after procrastinating on math homework for the entire semester, I used Adderall to stay up for three days straight doing math homework and listening to metal music. and I loved every second of it. including afterwards, when I got an A in the class.

When I can get my hands on it, I very much enjoy both the experience of Adderall, and the results of a clean room & finished homework.

This has gotten to the point where I'm genuinely convinced that, with enough Adderall, I could conquer the world, and that if everyone had a prescription, technology would be about 30 further. As of late I've been talking to a psychologist and have been trying to lie myself to an Adderall Rx. However, this has been very unsuccessful, and recently, I've very realistically considered buying methamphetamine(which is high purity and I do have access to) and crushing it up into 10mg doses and putting into gel capsules.

Now, before you call me an addict, know that my sober life has remained unchanged since I've started taking Adderall. I've taken Adderall only about four times in the last six months. Also, as scary as the word "meth" is, I've read a few guides on using it safely, and bear in mind that aside from being twice as strong, it's practically the same thing with the same effects as Adderall. and I would love to take Adderall over meth, but meth costs me about $.50 per 10mg wheras Adderall is $10 for 20mg, and I get the same end result. Also, while I seem to have absolutely no signs of ADD, I have what seems to be overall low levels of willpower, about forty pounds of fat I want gone, 3 college classes(in addition to my junior year of high school) and an intense desire to begin coding websites(because that's what I want to do with my professional life)

i'm not really worried about addiction, since Adderall(or low dose meth) is only physiologically addictive, and I'm not even worried about psychological addiction if it's just going to encourage me to take a stimulant that makes me hyper-productive.

Anyways, I read quite a few articles on your site. And I seem to be missing something. I've experienced nothing but good things from Adderall. I simply cannot comprehend wanting to not take Adderall. You said it yourself, Adderall turns you into Superman. So why is it a bad thing? It really seems like only someone who's taken Adderall chronically can relate to your site.

I sort of get the gist of one of your primary reasons Adderall is a bad thing. Something like, "Our limitations our what make us human", or, as Samuel Johnson once said, "He who makes a beast out of himself gets rid of the pain of being a man". But if our limitations are what make us human, then I don't want to be human.

Also, If one of the reasons people don't like Adderall is because of the side effects, I'd also like to point out that I actually like the side effects. The suppression of appetite, the suppression of sleep, the shaking and tingling, I like all of that. I do acknowledge that maybe it's the sort of the thing that grows on you(negatively). But still. As of right now, I just can't comprehend that. I really do like the person Adderall turns me in to.

So, please, I'm really wondering, what is this horrible negative thing about Adderall that I'm just not seeing?

Also, has anyone here played the videogame Deus Ex: Human Revolution. I highly recommend it(not on the level of, "OMG, its such a good vidyagaim!" but because I'm sure a lot of you could relate to it's story. It tackles the matter very intellectually. (not specifically Adderall, but human body augmentation, which, in the context of the plot, could very much serve the same purpose)

Wow!!!! Where do I start, I'm thinking that a bit of a disclaimer may be warranted stating that 1).I mean no disrespect if anything in my post comes off as harsh or rude. 2) the opinions I state are my own and not necessarily those of the "company" with that being said will try to bare in mind the post was meant for Mike, who I'm sure very much appreciated your breakdown of all the varieties of "Meth "..LOL. boy oh boy.....addies sure turned on the old charm for you kid. Like it does for many of people that don't actually need it but revel in the psuedo effects that it inspires. It knows that you will already illegally obtain it on the streets at a ridiculous cost....so pretty soon ..cuz you seem like a numbers person and all...it's gonna teach you to fake add and get it from a pharmacy so you can atleast get a price break on what can quickly become your own hell. You know the old "if its too good to be true it probably is"....when it decides you've taken the bait....its gonna take your productivity ,your 40 lbs of fat loss and all your other warm fizziest...and slam that shit right into reverse. It will turn on you,it wont let you see it coming...but it will make sure that you know when it does. Most of the time I've found that problems lie with greed,,,no one being happy with what they have in life...weather its for a more impressive job title, pussy cuz the wife at home just doesn't do it anymore...technology,which is bleeding the humanity out of this world...or drugs ..a line is never enough and neither is a 10 mg. Greed is the root of many an evil...addiction is a process. ..but who knows???? If all goes well you can start your own online community of happy stepford adderall users. Lol. Best of luck to you.

Hey Kid,

You are blindsided by your love for the effects of stimulant drugs. It is called the honeymoon phase. You need to learn your own life lessons of drug use, drug abuse and the horrors of addiction. So go out and try them all, and don't forget about Special K and cocaine and xtsy too. Go ahead, get addicted and find you own hell. Than come back here when you are ready to quit. We will still be here and willing to help you.

sure.I remember the very first day I put a tablet of adderall in my body...my girlfriends son had his dosage changed and she had a few 10 mg. IR tablets left...I had all symptoms of adhd since childhood but hadn't seen a specialist yet..so she said try em and see if it helps...on a beautiful August day in 2002 I took that pill on my front steps..within 30 minutes it was like someone had unzipped my skull and exposed my fuckin brain to things so clear and vivid and so welcoming. I cleaned the whole house called everyone I knew and was practically on the front lawn in an apron holding a pie to greet my children when they got off the bus from school ...I was beyond elated and so was my husband ...he was.impressed. I was 33 years old. It was like that for a bit..and I did see a specialist for my own script...but tolerence is a bitch my friend...and I would eventually be juggling 10 drs. ...screaming at pharmacists for not filling it for me in stores full of people with my shocked children in tow...have local police at the door on a Sunday morning while making breakfast to cuff me in my own driveway and take mommy downtown for falsifying a script...having my purse dumped all over the trunk of my carwhile police searched it as my father in law drove past bringing my kids home...missing that school bus entirely that I had so happily waited for in the beginning because coping a script was all that mattered and all consuming. Even above the lives and well being of my children. As for my happy husband ...by this time I had been removed from all financial accounts in his attempt to give me no way to cover a Co pay...I would shoplift and return shit and get busted with my kids...who I had taught to.lie very well to their father at this point.tho I was taking any $$$$ they had too. Piggy banks..birthday cards etc. He would remove the plates from my car...I'd take it anyway...putting gas in it that I had syphoned out of his riding lawn. mowers via a chunk of garden hose I had lopped off and blamed on my kids. But alas I had to surrender and give it up...I was so exhausted I didn't care if I ever woke up again...I hated everyone and everything and I couldn't even think.strait to take my own life....i was at a dose of 30-30 mgs a day. 10 strait out the gate in the morning just to function...I could get em from a walk in clinic,oR a gynocologist...I had a sick imagination that is too involved to get into the other fucked up shit I did. I went to rehab for 30 days at 39 years old for adderall...stayed clean for 3 years...but shit got tough again and I turned to that Superman you spoke of....he's still a fuckin asshole and was dragging me down the same road...I quit a 2 year run a few days before Christmas and I have 2.5 weeks...it took me to places that you have yet to go...maybe you never will...but its a chance not worth taking...so I hope that helped elaborate...and never say never. LOL

I did take the time to elaborate...which is more than you're getting from most. Cuz I know this was for mikes eyes only to start...but I don't know why you thought you'd get much from the rest of us...I'm sure you can handle it ..you're never gonna sell that shit on here tho. Kinda like me asking junkies to tell me why heroin is so bad ...cuz I happen to like it?????? Naaaah. I respect someones drug hell more than some I suppose. Just saying. So git er done kid!!! LOL

Since you seem so terribly clever, and we are honored with the task that you have only deemed somewhat appropriate for us proletariats given your lack of response from Mike, I have taken the liberty of inserting some text from a BOOK. The reason I have done this is because it is highly unlikely that you will take anything away from the recommendations here from real, live people who have experienced the horrors of addiction to this drug. We are not weak or stupid.

So here is the text. It's from a book called, "on speed". Maybe you should read it rather than playing video games.

"In the 1960s, psychologists adapted Skinners methods to study the dependency-producing qualities of any drug as a behavioral rather than physiological issue, by setting up experiments so that animals could dose themselves by pressing a lever. ... Cocaine proved the most addicting of the stimulant drugs: once hooked, a monkey would compulsively press a lever 6 THOUSAND TIMES for hours, just to get a single shot. Monkeys on cocaine would inject themselves with the drug almost continuously if allowed, eventually bringing on epilepsy-type convulsions, and then continuing to press the lever as soon as they regained control of their movements. this went on for several days until the animal collapsed. if not dead, the exhausted animals would sleep continuously for a day or two, eat or drink a little and then begin another binge. They gnawed their fingers off, lost interest in food, wasted away, and pulled out their fur in the monkey counterpart to the "crank bugs" that speed freaks imagine infesting their skin. Tested the same way, amphetamine and methamphetamine showed all the same effects.

Given access to enough amphetamine, any rat, monkey or man would eventually self destruct."

So, dear kite runner, we will be here for you when you eventually self destruct but we sincerely hope you don't. Despite your condescending attitude, and misuse of the time and resources of people on this forum, we wouldn't want to wish amphetamine addiction on anyone, ever. We do actually hope we see you here sometime soon, because that will mean you haven't utterly destroyed your life through your addiction and you believe there is hope in your future.

Good luck to you.

wow, I thought this was a joke at first. I get it, you're young and naive, and all drugs seem amazing in the beginning. I agree with sky, you are going to learn these simple truths the hard way:

1. If it seems too good to be true, it is.

2. What goes up must come down.

3. The right way isn't always the easy way.

Good luck with your responsible meth use.

I never tried to imply that. In my thread, i said that I would have posted it here if I had noticed the forums tab.

It's from a book called, "on speed". Maybe you should read it rather than playing video games.
Reading books and playing videogames aren't mutually exclusive for me. They can be a legitimate art form once you get over the stigma.

Geez,. and you call me condescending?

You talk as though I haven't done any sort of research whatsoever. I never said that there's no negative effects. I said I can't comprehend them. I read through many articles on the site and I just didn't "get it". It really seems like only someone who's been addicted can understand. Yet if I'm going to get into Adderall, I'd like to understand what this negative is. Hence, I did make this thread. It'd be a lot easier to look at Adderall negatively if you explained why it's bad, instead of just telling me it's bad. I'm very much aware of how glorified my view of Adderall is. I made this thread hoping someone could change that.

...there's another saying...shoulda left well enough alone. Throwing it out in a forum arena of people that have quit...wanna quit...are afraid to quit...are freaking out during the quit ...maybe wasn't the best idea. I'm not sure what you were thinking any of us would give you???? I'd never walk into an NA meeting and vividly describe the act of shooting dope or the sensations of when the pills kick in ....that could potentially spark something ...that's something I have no business doing. Perhaps there was a better place for your topic. Or you should have left it with Mike till you have more of a reason to take it up with the rest of us who know what you don't yet.

I never said that there's no negative effects. I said I can't comprehend them.

... and I gave you a scientific account of what does happen with prolonged stimulant use/abuse.

What more do you need?

If you're looking for accounts of side effects, there's a search bar in this forum... if you type "side effects" you should be able to find a whole bunch, but to make it easier on you, here's a few I'd written about earlier.

Well, i'll start by saying i was you. And i'm sure most of everyone who first started taking adderall was too.

It's all sunshine and rainbows when you first start. That's why everyone gets hooked im afraid.

But all good things must come to an end. I don't even know where to begin, but like any drug you will never get the same high as you got in the beginning. Eventually you WILL build a tolerance, whether you keep taking 10mg or not. Your body will adjust to it and you will need more to get that "superman" feeling you talk about.

Yes, meth is SIMILAR to adderall, but it is not the same thing. Meth IS highly addictive. And you are at a point right now where you can save yourself a lot of heartache and damage to your body, mind, and overall life. You are justifying taking this because of the amazing high you have gotten. Yet, you claim you are not, nor will become an addict. I am sorry to say but you are already well on your way to becoming a full blown one.

I wont lie, your topic pissed me off a bit. You are extremely naive. I don't mean this is a mean way either, it is just that you think you can dance around addiction by taking small doses, but controlling your use at the same time. Mark my words, you will not be able to do this forever. What goes up must come down.

Adderall is one thing, but meth is something completely different. Seeing as i have never touched the stuff, i can't really get into too much detail about it, but i do know it rots your teeth out, like adderall but at a much quicker rate. It is MUCH harder on your system than adderall is as well. Meth is NO JOKE. it's not like weed. You can't just toke a bit and go about your life. It will take you over. You are not stronger than meth.

Now as far as you enjoying the adderall "side effects"....well insomnia and loss of appetite are the POSITIVE side effects that most everyone experiences when taking it. The side effects that you develop overtime are the ones to worry about. And no, they are not fun. It is not exciting to get tremors throughout your body and feel as if you may have a seizure or stroke and be debilitated forever. It's not a walk in the park to realize, "Hey, my blood pressure is so damn high that my eyes are starting to lose their ability to see!" Going blind is not something you would enjoy, am i right? Especially if what you want to do with your life requires eyesight.

Overworking your cardiovascular system and possibly having a heart attack at any point in your life is also something to worry about. But, so is the slow death of your soul/personality.

No, you don't see it yet and i didn't either! That's okay. You are in a honeymoon phase. You think you are untouchable. I was no different than you. But i words and stories don't convince you to take a second look at the path you are choosing, you will one day figure it out for yourself. And i wont be here to say i told you so. I will be here when you need someone to talk to.

I have to STRONGLY agree with this. I am on day TWO of trying to quit. I woke up to reading his post. Every nerve/bone/cell in my body ACHED for an adderall. I have a 3 month supply in my room as we speak, so you can see the problem here. The glorified picture he painted of adderall and possible "controlled use" really had my mind finding ways to justify me taking my pills today. But, then i read all of your responses<3

It's a decent game.

Your post should probably be deleted, we'll just see how "responsible" you can be with it after a while using it for a while and developing a tolerance. You can only play around with it in a slightly responsible manner for so long...

But yeah man, do what you will. You'll be back on this site in a few years posting for a different reason.

Do you see the correlation I was trying to make with Adderall?

Also, the overwhelmingly negative response had me wondering; do you people consider there to be such a thing as responsible Adderall use? Most of you I'm sure got an Rx because of problems with ADHD. But do you just not consider it

a legitimate treatment for ADHD?

lol. dude, google search and go bug the Using Meth Responsibly forum, and the 10 Things I Love About Adderall forum, and the I'm Going To Research How To Be Responsible WIth Meth forum, and the I Just Don't Get It forum. Seriously, it's laughable, and not just cuz you're so naive as to post over and over on here, but cuz you really think you're that smart....

You picked the wrong forum, cuz folks here are interested in the Quitting Adderall forum, and so we don't share your misguided aspirations...

And yes there is responsible adderall use but what you are describing does not sound of the responsible kind...like what you are describing is the euphoric feeling that follows overdosing. I'm sorry if people on here are coming at you pretty hard. It's just that there are more forums on here than anyone with even good patience can get through and they all answer your question. It's kind of a wonder why you even had to ask I guess.
