  1. Felt rough this morning guys. Thoughts of how I am going to pass my chemistry exam next week without adderall kept creeping in my mind and felt really tired. Pushing through it, staying positive, I know we can do this!!
  2. Freedoms wings, I am with you all the way and you plus everyone here has inspired me so much!! I am looking fwd to seeing the look on my psychiatrists face 2 weeks from now when I tell her I have gotten off adderall cold turkey ) Day 2 underway everyone!!
  3. Ally, I am just about to wrap up Day 1 quitting the second time and I can tell you that I have been on Adderall for 10 years and had to quit cold turkey once before because I was having A-Fib and my psychiatrist forced me to stop by cutting off my prescriptions. 6 months later I talked my cardiologist into talking my psychiatrist into putting me back on Adderall. Ok, so where I am going with this? The first time I quit, it was a nightmare. I was tired all the time, not motivated, never driven. I just wanted to crawl into a ball and sleep all of the time. Since that time (2 years later) I have began exercising daily. Eating healthy and tracking my calories, carbs, fat, and protein intake. Eating fruit and lots of it. Carrying a thankful rock (every time I touch it, I think about everything I am thankful for). Telling myself what I want on an hourly basis. Ie "I want to be the best father I can be, the best husband" Eliminated caffeine from my life completely. Eliminated alcohol completely. Cold Showers twice a day! (kicks in the nervous system, there are psychology studies/journals on how cold showers kill depression, but hey, there is no money in cold showers for pharmaceutical companies so they will denounce it!) All of this may seem boring, but what I have found is that healthy habits give your mind and body something to lean on and look forward to everyday! Ok, so what does all of this mean? I know I am a newbie, and only at day 1 this time around, but I can attest that I feel like getting off of Adderall the second time around will be 10 times easier (not easy) than my first go round because of what I have armed myself with. (healthy habits) If you want me to help you through this, let me know and I will be more than happy to be your Rock to lean on
  4. Day 1 underway everyone!! Feeling tired but really pushing myself to enjoy the day and others around me. Went for a run this morning and survived/enjoyed abnormal psych class. Working until nine, I will post again tomorrow, so happy to be a part of this!! You all have really inspired me!!
  5. Hello everyone! Here is my story. Roughly 10 years ago I began taking adderall 30mg xr. Since that time it has been an amazing drug. However since that time I have experienced heart palpitations 6 times and had to be cardioverted twice. 6 months ago I set out on a journey to eliminate caffeine from my life. To my surprise I was successful and now eat 5 bananas a day. Next I set out to eat healthier and get back in shape! I have since done this and run a mile everyday plus row and cycle. My next step was to begin taking ice cold showers twice a day which I have been doing for two weeks now. The reason for this is that it increases hormones, immunity, brain activity and muscle recovery. As I feel my body getting more and more in shape I have noticed that the Adderall is no longer stimulating my brain. It is having the opposite effect. It is now making me sleepy, lethargic, and I find myself getting upset with situations I normally would not. Plus I have begun to experience panic attacks, heart racing and uncontrollable anxiety. None of this was really present prior and if it was, it was manageable. My question is this, with my changes in life style, is it time to hang up this awful drug? Can I do it cold turkey? The side effects are becoming overwhelming and I refuse to quit working out or ending any of the other healthy habits I have started. I would love to hear back from everyone and I love this forum! This is wonderful!
