Jonah
Day 1 of "new life": Tired and irritable as f*ck! Going to try the supplements like l-tyrosine (maybe 5-htp), and some other random stuff I was hearing from (username) Quit Once. Wish me luck, Jonah P.S. If anyone has an actual regimen of suppliments/acticities etc. I'd like to hear it. But "I take fish oil and exercise" is not helpful without exactly when, how much and for how long. Get it? Can you tell I'm irritable? Feel like I'd bite someone's head off for looking at me cross. Almost did at wholefoods this am (was buying l-tyrosine).
Cassie
Good luck! There is no regimen - everyone is different. Listen to your body, when to eat, when to exercise. Forcing yourself to exercise at a certain time for a specific length of time is going to make you miserable during this period when your motivation is shot. You will be miserable for a while - you just need to get through it. Easiest way to get through it is with distractions. For me this meant spending many hours watching series on Netflix - How I Met Your Mother, Weeds and Breaking Bad were some of my favorites.
Jonah
Yes, I'll agree that everyone is different, but I've heard some supplements do help. I'm not forcing anything, but I can't remember listening to my body and it ever saying anything specific like "you need 500mg of potassium" or "eat 2 servings of kale". My body gives VERY general messages like "hungry", "tired", "angry". Not very specific or helpful. Perhaps your body speaks more clearly and specifically to you? My body (and god) does not However Netflix (weeds I think) is definitely up next after this dumb@ss teleconference meeting I have in 5 minutes. Thanks for the thoughts though. Cassie
There is a supplements thread on the forums that you can check out. I took 500 mg l-tyrosine some days in the beginning and some other supps, but I can't say anything made a noticeable difference vs. days I didn't take them. In hindsight, I wasted a lot of money buying supplements trying in vain to deny to myself that the only real cure here is time. If you eat a healthy diet with lots of protein, fruit and vegetables, that should contain all the vitamins and minerals your body needs. You could also take a multivitamin.
Motivation_Follows_Action
It took me about 10 mins to find, but I was really impressed by this member's approach. http://forum.quittingadderall.com/topic/1208-this-is-my-strategy-on-recovering-as-fast-as-possible/

Jonah
1Bad88 - That link was killing me! First thing to make me laugh today. Thank you. Motivation_Follows_Action - thanks for the link. Cassie - I hear that and point well taken, plus my gf is a macro and paleo health nut. If the supplements don't help then I'll drop em. I'll go by my experience.
Jonah
Great! While feeling tired and irritable I got in a texting fight with girlfriend. Hurt her feeling and apparently (unknown to me) she was crying. Tried to apologize later, but she's still angry and doesn't know when she's be back tonight (although at least she's coming back). Hurt the person I love the most. First day not so good
Jonah
I apologized but I can tell she's still hurt. Meanwhile I'm feeling depressed and having a hard time getting out of bed (hard to think of a reason to get up). Sups aren't helping so far. Perhaps you're right Cassie, maybe nothing helps. JustinW
Just grind it out man; there will be a period of time that flat out sucks but it will end and things will start to get better.

Motivation_Follows_Action
Hey Jonah, what's your regimen - be interested in hearing what you've decided to do... and congrats on sticking with it/us. Glad you're still here!
Jonah
Day 5: Yes, Netflix has been my friend. Still felt tired and sluggish. Basically, been watching weeds, fringe and Dredd (many times). I don't really know if it's helped or not, but I've been taking 1000mg magnesium (taurate) at night and in the morning: 1000mg L-tyrosine and 200mg 5htp. Again, hard to tell if if it's helped or not though, but why not. Anyhoo, this is the first day I've felt like doing stuff. Did some exercise this am and some good work in afternoon. So first ok day. Still feeling a little cloudy and crabby in general though (but better). Might drop the suppliments and see, it might just be a time thing. I'll keep you guys updated. Jonah P.s. For ref I used to take 30mg twice a day.
llwilson
Keep it up Jonah! You are doing awesome. I am on day 1. I had terrible motivation even on Adderall (I was prescribed 5 10-mg pills a day but would take way more than that some days), so I am worried my motivation will get even worse...hoping with time it improves. I'm also eating everything I can get my hands on, and it's not healthy stuff. I've never been a huge "healthy eater" so I'm hoping I can kick that and start to eat healthy and get on an exercise plan (which I also do not do at this point in time). Keep us updated with your progress!
JustinW
I find that sleep is one of the biggest boosts for motivation. I try for 9.5 hours; plus that is the number that studies have shown to increase life span.
Jonah
Oh, I get plenty of sleep. After day give I'm actually getting up at a decent hour. Think I'll add some video games to my regimen now.
