PP37
Over the past year, I've spent a lot of time on this website. My boyfriend quit a year ago today. Without the forum, I don't think I could have been nearly as understanding or supportive. Thank you. His addiction was bad and cost him a lot - finances, relationships, career. Like many, his addiction began so that he could excel in a high pressure career. It ended up costing him everything. I cannot say the early part of coming clean was remotely easy, but the progress over the past year has been great. His debt is under control, he is rebuilding relationships with good friends, he has mended his relationship with his family, and after being unemployed for a couple years, has just started a job he is so excited about. Our relationship has never been stronger. It was a hard year for him. There were a lot of sleepy days, a lot of anxiety, and more than a couple pounds gained, but it all seems to be been worth it. We are feeling so thankful. He's still rebuilding, and I can't wait to see how everything unfolds. After gaining so much insight from this website over the past year, I figured the least I could do was to write a quick thank you note. And to everyone struggling, you can do this.
eric
@PP37 Thank you for the post. Its reassuring to hear the positive things that can happen if you stay off the stimulants. It's also refreshing to hear this from a person supporting a stimulant addict, since you more than likely had a clearer head during the past year than him lol. My wife has been a rock lately and this would be so tough without her support. So good job to you and him as well!! Good luck!
