  1. I deeply cut back on my alcohol intake, like I'll only have a beer or two on the weekends instead of every night. That has helped my recovery soooo soo much. My anxiety is manageable and I've noticed I've increased my water intake as a result.
  2. Late to the initial post, but since I was prescribed Adderall/Concerta I also was prescribed Wellbutrin XL. To me the effects of Wellbutrin are super subtle, but I still feel better on it, especially being off of ADHD meds for almost a month now. My goal is to wean off Wellbutrin next, but I have to say I'm happy to be on it during this withdrawal process.
  3. @Saltwater Soulhow are you doing now? I resonate with the family component being the inspiration to make this change. Deep in that 2nd week and come on here to not feel so alone - this site truly helps.
  4. How are you doing @in sterquiliniis invenitur? I'm struggling at the 2 week mark.
  5. You are a brilliant writer. Get rid of your pills. Seriously, get rid of your pills. You are only making life a billion times harder by demanding your entire willpower during a time when you have none. Once you do that you can move forward. You got this!
  6. Ahh, that makes me so happy to hear! And I completely hear you that eliminating alcohol helps the recovery process. I am, however, taking small doses of THC/CBD edibles to help with the anxiety and that has been helping tremendously. I just want to get to your point and not look back, even when my biggest trigger hits: a new job! Thanks for replying.
  7. Thought I would respond to this thread since I am a mom of two young kids and work full time in academia. My struggles resonate with yours, @Momoffadderall. I'm on day 6 of abstaining and am obviously struggling but know that connecting with people makes all of this slightly less miserable.
  8. Hey @Newbie1234, I share a similar experience with being prescribed Adderall for a chronic condition, and I'm only one week in from not taking it, but when I read your post, it made me reflect back to my days preparing for my wedding (1st wedding; marriage didn't last). I was deep into my abuse of adderall and prioritized all the wrong reasons for not wanting to get off of it during this time I continued abusing after my wedding, which honestly was a major driving force to ending my marriage just after 1 year. Despite this I continued abusing Adderall in my next chapters in life, and it took a cancer diagnosis this summer to finally call it quits. Anyways, I'm sharing this part of my story because I want to give you props for prioritizing the person you want to be before getting married and not letting this awful drug ruin the big moments. I really hope your wedding day was a beautiful one!
  9. I know it's been, gosh almost 3 years?, since this thread was active. I just wanted to check in as I'm new to the site and only a week in in my sobriety with adhd meds. How are you @NurseAddy?
  10. Thank you for the props, Krae! I keep focusing on how much better I'm sleeping already (and don't have to take melatonin) and I actually enjoy eating food again.
  11. It's been 5 days for me and reading this thread has really helped my decision to quit for good.
  12. Any updates? I've been in that same "quit/relapse" cycle and am now on day 5 of no ADHD meds (I've been on Adderall/Ritalin/Concerta) for over a decade. The only time(s) I went off for almost a year was when I was pregnant with my two kids. I always went back on my meds after pregnancy for work-related excuses. I despise stimulants and what they do to my body but know how easy it is to refill my prescription...I just really don't want to.
