SweetCarolinee
I was thinking maybe here we can all post different articles on Adderall we stumble upon, not from this site... http://www.therooster.com/blog/adderall-its-not-yo-mommas-amphetamine

Jon
I like the quote in the first article: “That is the drug of choice in college. Hands down, it’s the one thing that everybody will take. It’s the one thing that med students will take"...Everybody will take it. And the picture of the brain on adderall is amazing! Speed Withdrawal: In order to succeed, it's vitally important to understand it realistically, as a challenging, long-term process. http://www.tommoon.net/articles/speedwthdrl.html Good idea SweetC. Better to have them all in one place.

tinybuddha
I think that is a great idea Sweet Caroline! It surprises me how frequently I see articles involving adderall. Unfortunately, the majority are misinformed or trying to put a comic slant on the increasing use this drug and the side effects. Funny the stigma and reaction would be very different if many of these type of articles were written about opiate or any other narcotic abuse. Maybe it is a start at least getting out there in the public. The knowledge and resources for people with addiction to pain medications has vastly increased in the last ten years and we all know that addiction has been around far longer than that. I invite other members to share links here when they see any articles involving stimulants or other related topics even if there not geared to addiction. I can often relate to some part of it even if I do not overall agree and occasionally have a laugh or gain some new insight. Here are two more that have popped up in my news feed: http://elitedaily.com/humor/generation-why-we-put-the-add-in-adderall/ http://elitedaily.co...derall-college/

Greg
http://www.theverge.com/2012/7/26/3184496/hacked-brain-adderall-cautionary-tale From the verge article -- "At no point did the alarm bells sound quite so clearly as the first time I couldn't find any Adderall. A few months back, during a well-documented shortage with possibly nefarious roots in Israel and China, there just wasn't anyone in my neighborhood that stocked the stuff anymore. I hit the gMap hard and called every pharmacy in increasingly wider circles from my home until I eventually found a Walmart 45 minutes away, in Duarte, where it was mercifully in stock. A distant memory of freshman psychology fluttered into my consciousness: for many alcoholics, the mere scent of booze is enough to induce a drunken state. I can't remember what gave me the bigger amphetamine rush, hearing the pharmacist other end saying "yeah, we've got some left," or the taste of a saccharine pink pill on my tongue as soon as I hit the parking lot. I had finally met my first addiction, and it lived in a Walmart parking lot, in the disheveled cart collector, without Katy Perry."
tinybuddha
The author of the Verge article seems to be still in the delusional phase of adderall addiction. I am sure others can relate(I know I did more times than like to admit) when you allow yourself to relapse because think your just going to use adderall as a tool and not get addicted this time. I really hope it works out that way for him, but from my experiences it doesn't usually work out that way.

mila490
I found this recent NY Times article on Vyvanse to be pretty troubling: Shire, Maker of Binge-Eating Drug Vyvanse, First Marketed the Disease by Katie Thomas http://www.nytimes.com/2015/02/25/business/shire-maker-of-binge-eating-drug-vyvanse-first-marketed-the-disease.html?ref=health&_r=0 "The marketing strategy for Vyvanse, like that of Adderall, sheds light on how pharmaceutical companies seek to influence the diagnosis and treatment of a medical condition — in an effort to make billions of dollars in sales — even in the face of concerns about potential dangers of a drug."
better_morgan
Great to have this forum as a resource, I will do my share and post where I have gone several times to read and reread things. Hopper15
http://gawker.com/all-my-friends-are-dead-489716639 Bearing in mind that these stories are (all) anecdotal (and that individual results may vary), it still is scary to read about someone 5 years off this drug and still feeling withdrawal effects. As a patient formerly "treated" with Adderall, alot of the accounts described are depressingly relatable: “But being productive was me refolding my clothes 10 times in one day,†she said. “You don’t think about the larger things at all [when you’re on Vyvanse] because you can’t get past any of the small things.†It is also scary to know that Vyvanse (not Adderall, but not so different really) just recently got FDA approval for "binge eating."
