  1. You don't need luck Jay, you are doing just fine on your own. Congratulations on 2 weeks!!!
  2. Probably harder on mothers than fathers because they are more involved in the daily grind of child rearing (in most cases). I started to do more, be more involved with, and connect more with my children during my recovery process. They probably have helped me the most during this journey. I have a lot of respect for good mothers in general - I hope that comes through in these posts.
  3. I would agree that it is probably harder for a woman because of the self image issues that you bring up, and also women tend to be controlled more by their emotions than men and quitting is a complete emotional / mental rollercoaster. I hope that you get the answers that you are looking for. Since I'm not a woman, I've probably been of little help on this one; but hey, I'm not an owner of the site either. **edited out my double negative in the first sentence to clarify my support of the OP**
  4. Congratulations ZK, that is awesome news!
  5. hugs FW, hopefully you get back on a normal schedule soon! Congratulations on another day Jay! Almost halfway there. It took me an hour to drive my son to school this morning (usually a 20 minute drive). 3 out of 4 of us are coping; the 4th is in Hawaii with her grandparents. I'm really missing her as I won't see her for a total of 18 days when it's all said and done.
  6. Sweet, way to go!The wind chill was monumental tonight so I did kind of a haphazard job just to get most of the snow off, put a done stamp on it regardless!
  7. Working up the motivation to go out and remove the 6" of snow that we got today
  8. More aviator terminology to tell you about, I actually can fly solo right now with my student pilot license as long as my instructor endorses my logbook for the flight. My first solo was 2/16/2013, the check ride will be for my private pilot license ASEL (Airplane Single Engine Land). I have 10 hours solo currently. I have lunch with my instructor tomorrow to go over the planning portion of the check ride and the weather is still looking beautiful. Thank you so much for the encouragement Jon!
  9. Somehow, as in "I somehow made it throught today".
  10. Have you considered getting on an anti-depressant temporarily just to get through this?
  11. @Jay - We are getting another 6 inches today, it took me an hour to drive my son to school. Way to go on your continued progress! @Luckyducky - Are you hangining in there, I know day 5 is a tough one for you historically.
  12. My wife saw this movie two weeks ago and loved it, I can't wait for the DVD. SweetCarolinee, I like Yes Man but Pan's Labyrinth was odd. Of course, Jim Henson's Labyrinth with David Bowie was odd at points too...tight pants...shudder...nasty
  13. This was just a currency flight, Monday is the real deal if the weather holds out. I wanted to take some pictures but preflight was sooo cold that I didn't feel like monkeying around with getting my phone out and, once you have two people crammed into a 152, there's no way to access my holster underneath my jacket and snow pants.
  14. I just re-read that and I apologize for how it sounds...my bad. @Luckyducky - I'm glad to hear that you're back at it, a Starbucks drink is way better than using again and can be a temporary crutch to help your quit. Good luck in your search for a therapist and keep up the good work! @FW - I was wondering where you were. I was worried you'd fallen off the edge of the earth and was about to come find you. @Jay - How are you doing today?
  15. Rejuvenated - I got up early this morning for an 1.5 hr flight. It was -9° F on the ground but was +20° F at 3,000'; the view was clear and beautiful. Getting to watch the sunrise from that perch was quite breathtaking.
  16. New one word status update for today: Semantics LOL
  17. I didn't say that I was bereft of hope, only that hope is a dangerous thing. Did you see The Dark Knight Rises? The prisoners were given false hope of escape in that movie in order to make them more miserable or drive them crazy. Hope for the unattainable can cloud the judgement and cause people to make bad decisions. I prefer to base my optimism on faith, not hope. I believe tomorrow will be a better day; I don't just hope for it.
  18. Moderation is something that is lacked by addicts, isn't it? I got my hopes up today, even though I knew better, and then I was let down. The roller coaster isn't so much fun on days that I'm already feeling brittle.
  19. Jay, you are 1/3 of the way there; great job! @SweetCarolinee - I hope to see you and your ASCII in the 60 day challenge soon! @Luckyducky - Are you attempting another quit yet?
