If his "substance addiction" is adderall, I hope that at some point he will address it publicly .  If several high profile people talk about it maybe adderall  addiction will start to be taken more seriously.

Doubt it too many parents who have little Billy jacked up on addy and making straight A’s in school will scream anyone trying to speak truth on addy. Anytime FB has a story about the adhd medications I see feedback from parents telling people there kid has changed his or hers life and adderall is the best thing in the world. They don’t care to hear the truth because good grades and kids who behave is more important vs long term effects. Mostly same parents who are against any form of pot legalization because that’s a gateway drug yet speed is just fine for children lmao.

  2. My avg heart rate went from 68 down to 60 last couple weeks. I’ve found the stair climber at the gym really raises it fast durning a work out so hit around 170-180 for about 15 minutes plus do weights other stuff. Anyways think I’m doing pretty good considering how much I abused my body. Sometimes I was taking so many pills destroying myself I like felt my my mom cry for me although she didn’t even know.

Thanks Frank,  I may order and try.  So far aniracetam seems to be pretty good for both motivation and depression.  I've tried every almost different anti-depressant and always have horrible side effects...and I'm not really depressed, just never learned that I don't need listen to my mind so much! Nor follow it!.

    Glad for you.

Hell it could be all in my head let me know if it helps you out. I can’t promise it will make a big difference but can promise no horrible ass side effects like most suicide pills whoops I mean antidepressants.

Curious how you're doing with lithium orotate as well.  I recently found info on it and keep revisiting.

Am cycling off and on aniracetam and phenylpiracetam with fleeting success.

So far still feel it has been very beneficial. It does not really give like a energy boost but gives me noticeable motivation and overall depression issues much improved.

  5. ‘Countin' flowers on the wall, that don't bother me at all

    I've nothin' to do’
Boredom = motavtion to do something. I’d say if your feeling bored that’s a good thing. For most of my recovery doing absolutely nothing was just fine with me.

  6. What the real problem is the risk are played down by doctors. You buy this medication and read the warning labels it straight up tells you all the possible risk. So why do doctors just shrug off those side effect warnings? Well they are in the buisness of selling them. They basically told me that those side effects are very rare you should be fine. Truth is it’s not that rare and they are misinforming patients.

Leslie your not being paranoid questioning your doctor. You are past the point of being a lab rat of Big pharma you know the side effects of medication you should have never been given. Just like the doctor claims you shouldn’t have withdrawal from your dosage of addy she would probably say the same for any bad symptoms from a SSRI. The best thing is diet, talking to a therapist and plenty of sunlight. Also trying supplements one I mentioned and many more others have had listed on here. If you feel you absolutely must be on a medication like Sean said try Wellbutrin a non SSRI antidepressant. I was on it myself awhile seemed to help some and had little problem stopping it.

Frank I know you have strong opinions on this. I do believe your experience is as you said, I also believe everyone’s potential neurotransmitter imbalance is different. I had suicidal thoughts (first time ever) before taking the Zoloft so had little to loose and had family support to monitor me.

And... for me it worked and had zero side effects in getting off it. I still fight with energy and concentration like everyone else here however my depression is gone after a month and a half of using and a month now being off it.

I’d agree to try the lithium orotate and any other supplements would be a good try first. I did a number of vitamin cocktails that gave me a little more energy and decreased anxiety however just did nothing worked for my depression.

Eric you did have something to lose taking a SSRI. I don’t feel it’s a last resort option for anyone considering suicide it’s just too fucking dangerous. Thinking and doing are completely different for many it  pushes them over that edge. You were lucky many are not and it ruins life’s yet doctors do not fully explain the real risk. I’ll be honest two years clean I’d go back to being a fuck up addy junkie before resorting to trying a SSRI again for depression because it literally made me want to stab myself, it was just the most fucked up thing I’ve ever felt. I know it did not have that effect on you or does everyone but my case is not that rare see video link.  Nothing against what your saying Eric know your trying to help but I just stand my ground on this subject.

  8. I felt like that understand completely. I hate to push something I haven’t given 30 days but this Lithium Orotate supplement I started about 2 weeks ago has really started to turn things around for me. I’m a few months ahead of you but honestly did not feel different until I started taking it. I actually put up Xmas lights on my house  , rearranged my bedroom, really organizing my office finally after two years. Started selling or throwing away crap I don’t need.  I still take breaks etc not like some addy binge but I finally have motivation to do more than the bare minimum during a day. Of course sticking to a good diet and exercise regrually know that helps also. Just google it see what you think long as your not taking some form of antidepressant be perfectly safe to try.

  9. They key to a massive heart attack is taking adderall and running long distances. I work out way more now vs on addy but whenever I did felt my heart about to explode. My kids were one of the main reasons I quit even though on addy many times I’d be up all night like a mad scientist making some crazy electronic thing for them to play with. But overall they needed me vs some stupid gadget I created staying up all night building that was my thing on addy my shop lights never shut off. But I had a lot of regrets many weekends I’d skip going to the park with them over working in my shop and did that for several years. You may feel after stopping your a worse parent for awhile but don’t let that burden you. Yes you’ll be struggling awhile but in the long run it will benefit you and your kids in so many ways. Good luck visit this site often.

Congrats Frank! I know at two years you’d think it’s no big deal but it is. You’ve come so far and you are an inspiration to many even if you don’t see it. I am at month 19 and I read all of your posts and they are of great help because I can see what’s ahead for me as I get closer to 2 years (holy shit) of no Adderall.

Life is really starting to get back to normal so try to enjoy the good moments and appreciate the bad moments. You’ve come a long way and are living your life now without Adderall and I can tell by your posts that you have gotten a lot better. I’m looking forward to 2 years and then beyond.

    happy thanksgiving to you Frank.

Thanks sometimes I wonder if my post help or hurt I don’t filter a lot of my emotions on here just let it go sort of like our president on Twitter lol.

Yeah the 5htp I was told would help with anxiety and sleep however easy to build a tolerance to it as well... I find a lot of vitamins help for a window then somewhat drop off. I tend to mix some things up if I run out of something I try to go a few days to see if I feel like I notice at all then substitute with something else and see if there is any noticeable change.

With the lithium I currently take 2ea 120mg tablets. I have read 4 a day/ 2 in afternoon is good also

There are 4.6 mg of elemental lithium in most 120mg tablet. The brand I bought is Weyland it has 5 mg of element per pill. I’ve been doing two in the morning also. Tried one in the afternoon also but seems to keep me up. So far been the most impactful supplement I’ve ever tried really feel its making a difference. I’m usually not one to fall for placebo effect because I’m sort of a negative person but lately been feeling unusually positive. But before I jump ahead of myself give it a few more weeks for a verdict.

I have taken it for about 2-3 months now along with a long list of supplements that include Tyrosine and 5-htp. The Tyrosine is absolutely helpful as I find if need just a little more focus/energy in the afternoon and take about 1000mg I can often get myself off the couch.

The lithium orotate is in my very first am vitamins cocktail along with D3, K1, a multi, B12, B Complex, Taurine, NADH, Lystine, NAC and that's about it.

This cocktail overall helps my good days actually occur. On days I forget I realize around lunch time that I just feel like I am dragging a bit. So if I happen to be near home I will take before lunch and I do get a bit of my mojo back.

I’ve been taking vitamin d, sea grass, fish oil all I think make me healthy but have not really improved my mood. When I started I did take 5-htp did nothing also took tyrosine helped a little of energy but think I grew a tolerance to it very quickly. I’m hoping this lithium does what many claim. Sort of feel everyone is different and certain supplements can be very beneficial to some others not so much. What dosage of Lithium are you taking?

  13. I’ve yet to see any talk of lithium orotate on here maybe overlooked it or maybe it’s never been discussed. You may hear the word lithium and discussion over. Before you jump to conclusions do your research. This is completely different than the prescription lithium. The possible benefits to post adderall users are many. It’s sad not one doctor in my life has suggested giving this supplement a try with my lifelong low level depression issues. But of course why would a doctor suggest a non-prescription they can never benefit from. It’s not expensive can be ordered off amazon and may help improve your long road of adderall recovery.  I’ve taken it for a few days myself and can already feel some improvement. I will follow up in 30 days or so to determine if this is a placebo effect or not. But given all the possible benefits felt it was worth posting now.

    Just 6mo.

It gets better just very slow process. Honestly it’s hard to judge what my six months  was like feels so long ago I guess could look back on my post but know I’m in a far better place personally. Far as happiness no I’m not the happiest person but then again this can’t all be blamed on stopping addy. Stuck in a bad relationship I can only imagine a better place could be in now with a true partner who helps me vs holding me back. We have nothing in common she is not supportive in my diet choices etc just together for a child that’s it. Probably why I’m on here all the time really can’t share much with her.

IIf by 2yrs I still have symptoms like I have now maybe I would spend the money... However a scan would just be information as there is no real treatment for dopamine cell loss.

How long have been off it?

  16. That’s great seems like a lot of people who took this have some kind of writing background not me obviously. I did accomplish fixing a dirt bike this week that’s sat for three years in my garage. Something like that in early recovery was unthinkable just had no motivation besides forcing myself to work to make money. Now if I can just finish that damn treehouse.

The basic problem is the longer you take adderall the more you need adderall and at higher doses. There are numerous studies that show that amphetamines are neuro toxic. This means that over time it kill's dopamine receptors. And no they do not regenerate. In an extreme case of dopamine receptor loss is Parkinson's, however typically in this disease they die on their own for unknown reasons.

With Adderall we begin taking it for ADHD or whatever reason needing dopamine stimulation to function the way we want, however once we stop not only have we been teased with the feeling of adderall and also we now have less receptors than when we first got prescribed adderall. Based on my reserch it seems that over time peoples brain adjusts to this new lower dopamine output however we will likely never be better than before we started the adderall.

If that was true wouldn’t more of us who abused heavily for multiple years develop Parkinson’s disease? Researchers cannot actually test levels of dopamine in the brain they only use indirect dopamine markers and who knows how accurate those test are. So until they can and it’s proven on post adderall users I’ll choose to believe we can recover to normal. Although for me part of why I was prescribed this drug was depression so don’t think my levels were ever ‘normal’ to begin with.

Cocaine wold have likely been an easier and healthier addiction in ways. I have an old friend that got addicted to Meth and tried quitting many times. Wasn't until he followed the suggestion of someone at an NA meeting to try switching to coke for a few months then slowly taper off that he was able to quit everything 100%. He is 5yrs sober now.

    Not suggesting, just saying ;)

I was just joking about using cocaine but for me if I fuck up I’d rather be it coke vs adderall. But not put in those situations these days in my early 20’s different story. I often wonder what exctasy would be like post adderall. But then again couldn’t imagine the crash bet it would be so awful . Just glad I’m grown up with kids now have to be responsible can’t do that crap anymore. That’s  probably why I loved addy so much a drug that got u high everyday while being very productive, until it stops working and starts destroying your life.

Same here fellas, I'm 31 and I'm the most fit I've ever been.  After quitting adderall, I gained tons of weight and got up to almost 260lbs.  After several months of the gym and meal prepping every Sunday and being mindful of what I put into my body, I'm 214lbs and stronger than I've ever been.  Its crazy how much adderall distracted us from taking care of our body.  I mean you only get one after all.  Now I enjoy fueling my body with healthy foods and trying to figure out what combination of nutrition, cardio and strength training makes me feel optimal.

Note to people quitting gaining a lot is fine. Take a month to enjoy food and just be lazy it’s too much pressure to quit go on a diet and hit the gym. If you can that’s great but for me took a month of being very lazy you know like a teenager eating Cheetos playing video games lol. But eventually you’ll wanna get into a healthy routine just don’t push too hard that first 30-60 days may cause you to relapse.
