If you read the comments it's a typical merry-go-round of finger pointing. It's the doctor's fault, it's the system's fault, it's the addict's fault, it's the parent's fault, blah blah blah. Nothing will change. I disagree, Cassie, amphetamines have been a drug looking for a disease ever since they were discovered/created. Doesn't matter what the diagnosis, they'll always be in our system one way or another. -

need help making the decision to quit or not, for now
Motivation_Follows_Action replied to melody's topic in Tell your story
If you really want to figure out if you have ADD/ADHD, there are all kinds of clinical tests you can take, including some that go so far as fMRI scans and PET scans and so on, on top of the myriad of neurological and behavioral tests you can do. Have you done any clinical testing for your condition/s? I'm out of my depth on the rest, I'd be really stupid to give you any advice as your circumstances have a lot of physical, mental, psychological, psychiatric variables and implications and if you listened to me you'd be an idiot, which clearly you're not. So I'll stop there. Sorry I can't help any further... -
Myers Briggs Personality Test
Motivation_Follows_Action replied to Kyle_Chaos's topic in General Discussion
It is worth mentioning that the actual MBTI is a lot more lengthy and rigorous than any free online version I've seen. I had it done professionally through work a few years ago and you get a booklet that is comprehensive, telling you what is your "dominant" preference percentage under each category, and then whether you are likely "out of preference" (whatever that means). I'm going on memory because there's no way I am going to be able to find the hard copy in my now legendary messy office, but I'll just say that I'm not entirely sure that anyone can count on the validity of the online thingies. -

Myers Briggs Personality Test

There are a few, 1. This is the "real" one, but it costs money: https://www.cpp.com/products/mbti/index.aspx 2. This one is free http://www.humanmetrics.com/cgi-win/JTypes1.htm 3. I really like this one as it gives you the percentage likelihood you're a certain type: http://www.25quiz.com (free) Have fun! -

Myers Briggs Personality Test

Here's the link. http://quittingadder...lity-type-vote/ I'm "normally" an ENFJ, but when I was taking adderall I was an INTJ. Now I'm an INFJ, but on the cusp of I and F. I've bored myself by taking this test too many times Edit: just took it again and now I'm an ISTJ? Maybe I'm just confused... and bored. And procrastinating... -
Where are all these awesome emoticons coming from? I downloaded one and tried to attach it but it told me the file size was too big...

I think adderall addiction turns "E's" in to "I's". -
Sold my soul to adderall and then I lost it all...

If you want to give up, give up. Make a plan, and give up. I don't know anyone on this site who has given up forever by stepping down. You are at a fork in the road every day, and every day you fail. Sorry if this sounds harsh but you're just wasting your time by keeping a little color coded calendar. -
Hey Ashley, Well it looks like you've got a big bunch of fans here and I don't have anything more to say other than BIG PAT ON THE BACK FOR YOU... and here is why: wasn't it less than 2 weeks ago you were asking what to do about your crappy current relationship? And we were all saying, just go on a date or two, it will be good to see the world out there and that there are other people than your (then) current beau. And look! Here you are. So rather than getting anxious about what's ahead, be proud of yet ANOTHER amazing accomplishment. You continue to out-do yourself. There is a pattern emerging! Oh, and the Harvard guy? Yeah, whatever. Cassie's hubby's got the right approach. Hey, Harvard just got sprung for a huge cheating scandal that broke today, so that would certainly make an interesting conversation, ("So, Farquar III, I'm assuming that cheating is pervasive there or no? Tell me alllll about your experiences at such a competitive environment blah blah blah"). Of course Ashley I'm not saying that this is necessarily a good conversation starter, I'm just curious. Actually I was thinking about it in the shower today, and thinking well if cheating is as rampant at Harvard as it seems to be, and it is such a high-pressured, A-type-personality school, then adderall abuse must be de-riguer. You never know, you might have a junkie on your hands hahahhaa!!! HAVE FUN. And wear your good luck underwears.

Motivation_Follows_Action replied to SomedayDreamer's topic in Announcements
I had a really nice dream early this morning, so much so that I woke up in a great mood... don't you love it when that happens? It's a pretty boring dream, but it had a child-like contentment kind of feeling.... anyway, in my dream, I was spring-cleaning all the closets in my house. Pulling everything out, sorting it and putting it back in a better way. It felt so good to be getting everything back in order. I like the metaphor, now I find myself articulating it. -
Somedaydreamer, that's a really inspirational story. We are a lot stronger than we think, and you've just given a great example of that. I really like your post above, couldn't have said it any better. You're "wow-worthy".

I don't know how to quit this shit
Motivation_Follows_Action replied to HAM's topic in Tell your story
HAM, aren't you feeling better at all since the last 50 or so days? You're on the precipice of freedom from something that has gripped you and controlled you for long time, so why would you give that up? In my mind you have a head start towards permanently saying goodbye to the horrible moodswings, disordered life and broken sense-of-self that is inevitable with long term adderall abuse. You'd be doing something really good for yourself if you just gave up the option of ever being able to begin again. All it takes is one phone call to your doctor to let him know you don't need adderall any more. And you're free for life. That sounds like a pretty good deal to me, but I'm not sure you're so convinced. I really feel for you, this addiction has got you by the balls. -

I know more about the placement of those cigarettes than I would like to.... Store owners get rebates from cigarette companies based on how much visibility there is to their product. Unless it's in Canada, where that's illegal, and then the cigarette companies pay them in "gifts" (through loyalty programs kinda like frequent flyer thingies). The whole tobacco industry is designed to draw you in and make it almost impossible for you to quit. You should be really proud of yourself, you're fighting entire systems of highly paid marketeers and salespeople every time you see those displays. -
Ok how'd you guys go? I never thought this would catch on but more's the better! Here's where I am with my list, it was the most productive day I've had in a really long time (like 2 weeks maybe?). 1. Fix boiler (heat broke today, it's freezing in here) FIXED 2. Apply for professional certification exam and begin studying DONE , Will be writing study plan tonight 3. Research US citizenship application process, begin studying for exam, define a date to take the exam RESEARCHED, printed necessary documentation, will fill forms out over the weekend. Can't set a date to take exam until I've done like 5 other big things first which will probably take several months. Next to do list is the things on that new list. 4. Set up at least 3 interviews next week DONE! 5. GO TO THE GYM YOU LAZY POS. Your reward will be to sit in the sauna for 20 mins afterwards. Ok so I didn't do this. Man, this whole working out thing appears to be my michegas. 6. Do the laundry yeah ok tomorrow. 7. Call your ex-employer about your benefits DONE 8. Health care insurance claims for psychotherapy DONE 9. Call your mother Tomorrow. Mum, if you're reading this, I will call you tomorrow. 10. Go to grocery and buy groceries for the next few days. No more takeout. it's expensive and you have no idea what you're putting in to your body. Tomorrow. I had to sit at home in the freezing cold today. Ok, here goes!

My friend is a neuropsychopharmacologist and a teaching fellow at Cornell Medical School and I was curious so I asked him and he said he didn't really know but he didn't think so. So there's your answer. -
That's the spirit, they don't call you THE FALCON for nothing. You have the inner ability to soar above it all, strong like a falcon. You have our undying respect and gratitude. Words on these series of tubes called internets can hardly suffice, but you have affected many lives through this forum and continue to do so even today. We love you, Falcon. Stay strong.
