  1. Hey Li'l Tex, Im sorry about the winter blues ZeroKewl u as well. but lil tex, that half marathon sounds exciting. It's good to hear from you!
  2. I saw a few episodes but lost interest. I might give it another shot.
  3. I used an antidepressant among other things...and tried to keep the pressure off myself as i adjusted to the new normal. How much are you taking now? congrats on taking the beginning steps.
  4. That is good advice occasional. I am going to run one mile right now.
  5. Good luck too Ashley! I also have an interview Tuesday. This one I have to prepare 5 scenerios where I have dealt with conflict Edit - Ashley, i am applying for pretty much everything right now..but I am getting a better idea of how this job process works. I will update this post later on informational interviews. Like what kinds of questions I'm asking and stuff like that.
  6. This thread is working. I got a phone interview for a really good position on Monday. Last night, I left the pub, submitted to this place and some others, then went back to the pub and I heard back from this company today.
  7. Occasional, I did the morning workout thing a for maybe a week. but I am definitely a late afternoon/early evening or evening workout person. But i would think it would be a great thing to get into, and it will get your blood pumping for the rest of the day!
  8. I actually left a pub to come back and submit 3 resumes because I am so dedicated to this thread, lol. and then plan on going back. it has been a really, really long week.
  9. Ashley that's great! I still have to submit my resumes for today, I had an exam, and class all day. After class I had another informational interview and these things are SO helpful. You have to start doing them if you havent begun yet. This one gave me a lot of information about his industry which is a tough niche industry in finance id like to break into and about 16 contacts at different companies to reach out to. I get something out of each phone call and its always different. I also gave him my resume to hold onto in case he hears of openings. So dont forget you guys to send networking letters. they really pay off too just like submitting resumes.
  10. awesome! I got another interview too. it is closer into the area i want to go into and geographically more where i want to be so Im going to set it up and just think of it like practice! We need to keep doing this until we end up with the most amazing job ever- like a white house fellowship, hahaha
  11. its easy how that drug can make you reliant on it for school...but its part of the psychological addiction of the drug manifesting itself as you stay on it longer and longer. do you run out early? It took me a while to see how i am without adderall. I am more flexible in my thinking, im more observant of my surroundings where before i was really self absorbed into how i felt, which was usually paranoid or anxious and oblivious of my surroundings. i was often caught up in a whirlwind of excitement (like with boring stuff too) and thats not really the case anymore. Im just a level headed person now. Thank goodness. Those are some of the differences. You will learn a lot when you get off of it.
  12. Hey guys, I added a new welcome part to the beginning of the thread. does that work? Also, I got my five in for today!
  13. that is great!! Thanks for the update! I know we all were curious to hear how it went!
  14. oh, absolutely. totally honest. i dont think you have to worry about honesty being an issue when you are doing the info interview. also, If you google questions to ask in an informational interview, you will find tons of questions to ask, where to find your networks etc. And lots of information about the informational interview process. That is what I did before mine. In my case, I used my undergraduate and graduate schools alumni databases which I had to get a password for. I sent out about 10-15 emails and heard back from three. Also professional organizations and linked in would be good sources to find your networks. I would google this. My primary focus of the phone call was to get a better understanding of my career goals. I was worried about it being awkward, but we ended up talking for an hour and it was so incredibly helpful. I asked him if i could stay in touch with him during my process and continue a dialogue over the course of my job search. I plan to do this with anyone I speak with. And if i have time, i want to start an excel spreadsheet with the people i talked, tips and suggestions, and follow up people to contact etc...if i find the time. this is something i learned from googlng.
  15. update - I haven't submitted for jobs yet but I got to the next round for another internship and my interview is on Tuesday. I also have to take a 60 minute exam for it. I think this one has good compensation but is not really in the line of what i want to do. I also had one informational interview last night (REALLY HELPFUL to help me focus my career goals) and another I am trying to set up for this weekend. I am starting to think informational interviews are just as important if not more important than submitting for jobs. Its like a different form of submitting for jobs - u r networking your way into a position instead of the old fashion way of submitting it to HR. Cat wrote something about it on an earlier post and Im starting to see the wisdom of it...http://forum.quittingadderall.com/topic/1612-job-finders/ (By the way, after reading that thread JustinW are you considering joining this club?) I have work 8-5, class 6-10p and an exam tomorrow morning! I might not do any job stuff today but substitute a Saturday for today or something.
  16. Cassie, I'm sorry about the new job, but I really think you wouldn't have liked it if you stayed at your first job either. I remember how much you hated it. I think you REALLY needed to find something new. on the bright side, this club will make you proactive and hopefully be able to get out of there. Anyway. Good for you for applying for two jobs!!
  17. yes, i felt like that all the time in the beginning of the quitting process. You werent yourself on adderall, you were somebody else. Now you get to find out who you really are. how long are u clean? or are u still taking it?
  18. Hey Ashley, you will do great! Just think of it like practice. I would google basic interview questions. Read any information about the company online. They may ask you about your background or accomplishments (Maybe have a couple examples ready to go). Strengths and weaknesses is such a typical question that I would have a couple ideas about what to say for that. I actually didnt get that in my interview but that was the one question I prepared for.. Get there early, dress professionally, have a couple copies of your resume. Keep it conversational, be a good fit.
  19. Just like running we will get better and faster at this!
  20. Haha Ashley. I have no interest in doing this either lol... Without this board, forget it! This wouldn't get done. Lol.. Good job on getting those 4-5 in! Keep it up!!
  21. Welcome SweetCarolinee!!! I posted on a couple job boards. I guess 1 job board = 1 resume?
  22. You as well. Good job on 3 and getting an interview!!
