  1. Hey, Good for you for being a good a friend and trying to help her out. Your post really hit home -- I was exactly in her situation My advice to you is to talk to her family and find a way to get her cut off from her adderall. I would not tell her that is what you are planning to do. She wont be rational about it. Id talk to the family and figure out a way to do this. This probably would mean cutting off her doctor. Or maybe she is getting from several doctors. Have someone in her family call the doctor (or doctors) to tell them. The most important part is that she is cut off. Then she will be forced to detox and get back to normal. The detox will be hell for her. But that is what she needs. This is what worked for me.
  2. that is very good news Ashley!! I have run 37 miles this week! Why so much? I have gained 10 pounds since I got home Lesson of all this - don't go crazy and eat everything in sight just because its the holidays and also running a LOT does not equal eat whatever and however much you want.
  3. Great post occasional. 2013 was a GREAT year for you!! Proud of u!!

  6. JustinW I am definitely down for that. that is about $40/year. I think if everyone can, they should drink one less starbucks coffee a month. Mike, it is good to hear the update from you and that you are doing well!!!! PhD?? That is awesome!
  7. Great to hear from you and hear you are well and clean and have turned a new page in your life. I am thrilled for you and totally remember the struggle you faced in the beginning, it's good to know you've come into the clear. Congratulations Kathleen!

  9. good job ashley! I have so much junk food i need to run off -- i dont think 28 miles was enough! I probably needed to run 100 miles. I love your new years resolution!!
  10. if you can quit adderall which is like 50,000 trillion times harder - you CAN QUIT SMOKING. There is group outside my building and they ALL smoke and play cards and chat. And I just sit there and enjoy their company but I have no desire to smoke anymore. Just like adderall, the desire goes away with time. I know its easier said than done. But all I can say, is that after years of trying to quit, the desire for cigarettes just vanishes eventually.
  11. Alright -it's 7:15pm. I ran 28 miles for the week. hahahah I was totally motivated to run off the milky ways, giant sized chocolate bars, chocolate boxes, movie theater popcorn, cheese wedges, and buckets and buckets of ice cream. I dont think 28 miles was nearly enough. But next week I am running more than 12 miles for sure!! PS I am sick of icecream now. thank goodness. And I think I got all my cravings from school satisfied lol.
  12. No way did I get an A. I worked my butt off for that B. And boy was I angry about that teacher. I thought he didn't care either. but im not joking when i say I worked my butt off for that B. I spent 15-30 hours PER take home exam. And we had five of them. That class was a nightmare - with 80% of the class cheating and then a professor who seemed to be turning a blind eye to it...and then just the sheer difficulty of trying to turn in good exams when the bar has been set ridiculously high by the 80% of people in class who were working together on these exams.
  13. Nice job! Now just 4 miles today - and youll make it to 12.....you can do it!
  14. I think its disappointing.;.Lance Armstrong, ARod...so many people. Not only are these people role models, It really brings down the entire sport. How about you?
  15. I never filled you all in on what happened with that!!! That really bothered me last semester... I was extremely annoyed because there were 15 people (out of about 22) in my class who sat around a table and did their take home exams together - which was strictly forbidden. There were 5 exams, and for the first 4 exams they all got As. They also raised the standard of getting an A since their exams were so much better with 15 minds working together. These were extremely tough and lengthy exams and these 15 were just cruising through them easily and getting As. (I spent at least 15 -25 hours PER exam doing mine. And I got Bs and Cs on all my exams. I never got an A) THEN on the fifth and final exam the professor surprised them all and FAILED them all. I think he knew what was going on the whole time and had planned to surprise them all in the end. All their As went down to C - and Ds. Basically all of them ended up on Academic probation because you have to maintain at least a 3.0 in the MBA program. None of them fought it because he could have done much worse and brought them before ethics board etc...One of the girls who I know cheated (she told me she was cheating) fought him even though everyone told her not to...and told him she did it all on her own. And went line by line through her exam telling him where she got her answers but he refused. She's persistant. She's going to fight him again next semester. Personally, If i were here, I'd just drop it.
  16. Check in Sunday everyone! I am up to 20 miles this week and I am about to hit the gym because I ate myself to death this week. Also I started a new thread because the old one is like thousands of pages long!!!
  17. ALL NEWBIES - FEEL FREE TO JOIN. We have been doing this for a year -- and if you ask all of us regulars -- IT WORKS! We are a bunch of former adderall addicts in recovery. We check in every Sunday to ensure we reached our 12 miles for the week. Studies show a correlation between running and staying clean. Not to mention the numerous health benefits of cardio. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  18. hahaha I agree with Occasional. Ashley you cannot possibly be out of shape!!! not possible. occasional - are you considering entering the army? or just want to see if you can pass the fitness test? asking because I have a friend who wants to finish grad school and then go into the air force (which is definitely an unusualy path, but people do want to do it) PS: Ashley, you are NOT out of shape!
  19. Yes, yes and yes. Very familiar with what you are describing, I'd say You are having a perfectly normal post quitting reaction!
  20. And for those of you just quitting - remember it takes TIME. be easy on yourself, get rid of this problem first, and the rest will begin to fall into place, But if you try to get back on the horse before you are ready, you may not have the strong foundation you need for things to fall back into place. Edit - I just want to add one more thing about ADD. A lot of people do feel they have ADD and that they are taking the adder all to treat it. if you are a newbie on this forum reading this, (all lurkers included) just because u feel you have add does not mean u have to take adderall every day. Feeling you have Add does not = must take adderall. To lurkers and newbies, I hope you read some of the horror stories on this website, so you can get a better understanding of the full potential of adderall addiction and then make this your last day of taking it.
  21. Ashley watch out for the shoes... bad shoes == soreness Learned the lesson the hard way when i could barely walk for weeks. By the way I forgot to add additional food to my list of foods consumed this past WEEK...an entire movie theater bag of popcorn (by MYSELF and all the way to the kernels at the bottom of the bag) hee hee. I might aim for 24 miles next week to run off all this junk i have consumed
  22. When I was taking adderall i remember i got a 3.82 and was so excited but I attributed 100% of those grades to ADDERALL's doing, not me. This time it felt real because the 4.0 was me with absoutley no adderall. in the picture. Just hard work and using my own brain. I have a working brain! despite all the damage from taking over 250mgs a day for 12 years. And hearing voices in my head daily that i thought were real for a year from adderall induced pyshosis. And lots of painful rehab, relapse, and outpatient treatment and putting family and friends through hell. I saw my brother in law last week who was visitng from Switzerland, and i hadnt seen him in a while, but i could just tell how happy he was that things were getting back to normal after the throes of addiction and then spending 2 years doing absolutely nothing except recovering. Thanks for the congratz Ashley and for always being there ---to all of you for always being there!!!
  23. It interesting. when i talk to people who take adderall. Sometimes they say 'well I ONLY take it to study' or 'im always careful with it' but a lot of people say 'i take it because I have ADD' and when I say i suggest its not a real diagnoisis, they tend to agree with me without argument. which i found interesting. Personally... I feel ADD is a BS diagnosis and over prescribed to a degree that is terribly detrimental to our society..
