15.5 months off Adderall. Trying to figure out what to do next
Greg replied to Sebastian05's topic in General Discussion
When I was at 16 months I was in a million times worse shape than I am now, if that gives you any indication things will get better. At 16 months I was getting PAWS that would last for days and then I'd be alright for a few days and then it would hit me again for days and days, I used to write about it ALL the time on this board. It's not like that anymore. It doesn't last for days and days. i still get PAWS but it is infrequent when I get it. -
Hypercritical that is so true. When you quit u no longer get to that artifically euphoric place like on adderall. If that is what 'normal' is to you then u will be waiting forever. I have felt like that a few times since I quit, where I feel slightly euphoric, and have all these ideas and I feel like writing a book in 1 day, but it's really discomforting because it reminds me of being on adderall and I feel like I've relapsed. But those moments are brief and don't last all day like on adderall and I just want them to go away.

I was addicted for 12 years. Spent most of my later years in adderall induced psychosis. Went in and out of different rehabs. I've been clean for a few years now. My advice to you is to read the boards and know what you are up against with adderall withdrawal. It's a long process so keep your expectations in check.

its not permanent. you have keep expectations low and then it will seem much better. And understand it takes a really, really REALLY long time. thats adderall withdrawal..

got my Final grades back. 3.32 GPA for the semester, I was hoping for "slightly" higher, but I guess given the time spent interviewing etc, and the toughness of the classes, this is fine. Not quite the 4.0 from last semester but...my overall GPA is still high and that's what is more important for me ..and best of all, I earned it the adderall free way.

Congratz on all the clean time. I definitely continued to gain more energy and feel less depressed after the 16 months. This will not be the way it is for the rest of your life. Its a continuous process of improvement from all that dopamine and norepinephrine depletion in your brain. I can say that even though I face intense adderall cravings , as recently as yesterday (For me, it tends to hit hard when i get on school break after a very difficult semester of work and studying and my brain chemicals react to what ive been through), I feel confidant that i would never ever go back to adderall. I think that confidence should continue to grow with you. The more clean time you get away from it, the more confidance you will get in your despisement of it... if that makes any sense. Congratz on the 16 months. That's really awesome. You should pat yourself on the back for what you accomplished.

Are these the scripts your doctor asked you to return? -
Awesome!! Way to go!

Hey, as long as you get the A in the class it totally does not matter. Good job on that one. For the next two, u just need enough to get the A because that's all that matters in the end.

I AM enjoying my time off!!!! I've been catching up on lots of sleep and rest I hope the fact that she was hospitalized because of adderall, gives her some kind of wake up call here. It's frustrating. But this is how other people felt about me when I was abusing adderall despite everything it was doing to destroy my life. It's frustrating.

GOT and Silicon Valley. Tonight is Peter Gregory's last episode Edit - I'm looking forward to debut of penny dreadful tonight. And I'm loving the new 24 season on Mondays. I've mentioned 24 so many times on this site. It's just as good as when it left off.
