  1. Adderall makes you feel amazing, until it makes you an antisocial crazy person.  Oh, and you are that person long before you notice it...guaranteed.  It makes me think of the scene in Spiderman 3 when Peter Parker thinks he is super cool and all the people he walks by are looking at him like he is a crazy dork?  That wasn't Venom, it was an adderall suit.  LOL !

Good luck to you, and hang in there.  It will get better, eventually.

  2. I'm a lazy human being....0 miles. I hope you feel better, InRecovery.

Me, too...sigh.  But...I did do yoga and a basic tae-bo workout with my daughter last week.  Also, I went to mass, which I have not done in over a year.  I cleaned my sons room, which worked up a sweat, and I cleaned half of the house.  All in all, it was a very productive week even without "miles".  I am counting it as a win!  I am feeling motivated by my snug scrubs to improve my diet and add more exercise, so I am journaling my food and becoming more conscious of my junk food triggers (everything!).

I also want to mention how much fun I had at a birthday party on Saturday night.  Without adderall, I was engaged and outgoing...it has been so long since I wanted to be around people.  I had a blast!

  3. I notice that people interact with me differently too when I'm off adderall. I probably come across as way too intense when on it.

I think it's important in the early days of recovery to remind yourself of the antisocial zombieness. It's hard because you feel so depressed and tired that you wonder if you'll ever have energy again, let alone worrying about being social. But like I said, the small social interactions make a difference and remind you what it's like to be "normal" again.

    Ah, to be normal again...

  4. GNC, just as most doctors and psyc's, get paid to sell drugs.  Yes, they do have vitamin supplements and other stuff that is actually healthy.  But bottom line - know what you're getting BEFORE going into places like that.  Otherwise the salespeople will just try to take you for a ride.

Absolutely!  I am just glad that he told me and didn't just sell it to me as an energy supplement.  Dodged a bullet there.

  5. Obviously, it sells. There are other places to get vitamins (that are probably cheaper and better). I would stay the f out of GNC.

Agreed.  I am going to go the amazon.com method.  I am an amazon prime member, Sweet Carolinee, and I love it, too!

  6. alwaysawesome, have u done any running yet?

I got on my treadmill, and it quit on me after 1 1/2 minutes.  I tried it again, and it quit after 3 minutes.  Did I then go out and get in the pool?  No.  So, for the week...big fat zero.  Sigh...I am going to have to get up early in the morning, or go out late in the evening to avoid the heat.  I am trying again this week, promise!

  7. There is something refreshing about watching my children soak up their education and not being too busy doing random household chores (constantly!) to help with reading time.  I set a timer last night and sat on the couch while my 9 year old read a "Warriors" book to me...nice.  I am finally taking the time to enjoy my children.

Also, I am so grateful for the strength I didn't know I posessed to quit this terrible habit.

  8. awhile back someone mentioned this powder called Craze or Kraze, it is marketed for body builders. I got some and it tasted like tang, and ya, it felt suspiciously alot like adderall. I googled and read some scary stuff about the manufacturer. Who knows what was in that stuff.

I read that Kraze was chemically similar to methamphetamines...if there was ever a worse drug than adderall (and heroin :o) it's meth.  Yikes!  What are they thinking?!

  9. I took my 11 year old daughter off of Concerta two days after I quit Adderall.  However, she really needed something different (preferable non stimulant) before school started, so she recently started taking Strattera.  WOW!  I am so amazed at how well she is doing on it.  Her tutor noticed a huge improvement in her attention even over her concerta focus.  Also, it builds up in her system so it does not wear off just in time for homework.  I highly recommend trying it, because it has been a life saver for our family!

  10. So, I passed a big test on Friday.  I was getting my haircut and mentioned to the stylist that I was super tired.  I told her about quitting adderall and how my metabolism was junk!  She recommended a B vitamin supplement from GNC, next door.  I knew that I needed some vitamins, so I went over there and told them my situation.  The dude working there asked me why I quit adderall.  He quickly added that they have some things that are  chemically very similar to amphetamines, if I wanted to try them.  I was silent for a few seconds and said no.

HOWEVER, I thought about it all the way home.  I googled it, and thought about it.  A LOT.  Well, I did not go back and I will not buy anything except FDA approved vitamins from GNC, but it was all consuming!  Addiction is so terrible...I will never go back to adderall, or any chemically similar substance.

I just wanted to pass this along and see if anyone else has had similar issues at GNC.  Or, have you been drawn in by this pitch?

I've never heard of anyone going off the rails like that in addy withdrawal.  In my own personal experience, I could hardly muster up the energy to get off the couch most days - let alone throw things across the room and attack my significant other.  Irritability definitely plays a role, but not to that extent.  Kinda sounds like he's got issues that run deeper than just withdrawal.

I completely agree.  I cried (hysterically) when I quit eating wheat (all bread and pasta), but with adderall...I am too tired.  When I am not tired, I am hungry and looking for comfort food.  Maybe there are deeper issues at work?  You don't deserve to be in a relationship where you are abused.  I say, love yourself enough to tell him to shove off!

    Good luck!

  12. Chunky- I don't think an explanation is really needed...

Hangover, hangover, hangover I will never drink gin ever again.

So, I guess "Sober July" is over?  LOL!

Totally understand...I gave up vodka for a long while after an unfortunate Screwdriver incident.

BTW, gin is nasty.  No real loss there.
