  1. I think that it is easy to romanticize the Adderall effects, sometimes.  No matter which side of the addiction you are on.  I told my husband how I felt and he apologized and said he didn't think about it when he said it.  It is hard on the significant other when you are constantly vocalizing in the beginning about how much you wish you could be back on it.   Mixed signals...

  2. I was up 40 pounds, but I am down almost 10 pounds since I quit grains and sugar 2 weeks ago...I feel better and My mind is clearer, too.  I am resuming my exercise and I find that my exercising heart rate doesn't get to 180 BPM anymore.  I am amazed that my heart didn't explode while I was taking Adderall!

  3. One day at a time...it gets better.  I am almost 8 months clean, and I am feeling better.  A new thing for me; I don't spend much waking time thinking about Adderall anymore.  This is so new, that I don't remember when it happened.  I only think about it when I am on this forum and only to reflect on the "cons" and revel in the "pros".

  4. We are all addicts and will be for life...I think that puts us all in the same stage.  You can do this.  Read around the site and check out the articles.  Come here everyday and whenever you are feeling like you want to go back to Adderall because the lies in your memory are so loud!

    Welcome to the Group!

  5. Welcome!!  I think you will find that your story is so familiar to the rest of us.  Recently, someone commented that 7 months is still early in my recovery.  Energy and motivation will return in time...

hang in there and have an energy drink!

  6. Just a note...I took my daughter off of concerta when I quit adderall back in June 2014.  Last week, my husband mentioned how the Strattera doesn't change who our daughter "is".  On concerta, she was a different person.  Now, good and bad, she is Kate.  Totally glad I made her quit.

    Be yourself...

  7. Don't forget - Even if the person you were responding to doesn't read it (and you never know that for sure), someone else might very well read it and gain from it. :)

I agree!  The reason I noticed the "missing in action newbies" was that I was reading the responses to the various initial posts.  They helped me a great deal!  I am just sad to see that the newbs weren't able to hang around long enough to benefit...

  8. I wish that I had some motivational words for you.  I just know that I feel better being me, and buying a larger size for a year or so is not that bad.  I just bought a treadmill and started back on my Wheat Belly Diet.  I am feeling better already.  Take a look at Wheatbellyblog.com.  Maybe it would help for you to do an intense lifestyle change like this or Paleo.  It might give you something to obsess over, but in a healthy way.  Eating disorders are tragically difficult to overcome. Good luck!

  9. My house is also a wreck, I keep dishes going and pick up but can't keep up with five peoples' laundry and lives, and that's when I feel the weakest.

You are in good company...we are all (or have been) in the same place.  It is hard with kids and a husband who is not terribly involved.

I am going to give you some unsolicited advice, so you can take it or leave it.  Make a simple list of things for your husband to do that would help out around the house.  Hand him the list and say "Here is a list of things which I need for you to do".  Done.  Most men are uncomplicated creatures and just don't see things the way we do (way too complicated ;) ).  Give it a try.  No tears...no drama...just the facts.  Don't put your feelings into it.  Just say "I need you to do these things". Period.  Try it, and I think you will be surprised by his reaction.  I am betting, he will do them and not make a fuss.  Most guys whom I have consulted agree...lists are the way to go!

    Good luck and welcome!

  10. It's the scale that makes me dream the insane adderall dream.  Weight gain = need pills.  But, I have to get healthy and adderall is not the way.  So, back to my grain free lifestyle with no preservatives, no sugar, no artificial sweeteners.  I am one day in and I feel better already.  I need a 30 day challenge post for my wheat free days!  In some ways, it is just as hard to kick all things wheat as it is to kick adderall.

  11. I am so glad that I am not the only one. I visit this site when I want to call and get a new prescription. Also, I hope to one day be a long term "quitter" and an inspiration to others! Hang in there newbs! This post wasn't meant to be critical, but I wish more members were still active. I fear many lose their battle and just give up...

  12. Oh Wow!  Thank you so much for your kind words.  Welcome to the forum and I can't wait to see your success posts!

One other thing...try to cut your mom some slack.  The doctors are so very convincing that it is hard to fathom the damage it can cause.  I am fortunate that my daughter's psychiatrist is very holistic and open minded.  Also, that she listens to me and did not argue at all when I informed her of my decision.  Thank you again for your kind words.  I have to go and touch up my mascara...

  13. What job is that?

I work in a government occupational health clinic, and I am the laboratory.  My mornings are fairly busy, but I do practically nothing in the afternoons.  The mornings aren't a problem, it is trying to do extra things in the afternoon.  There isn't anyone here to make me do extra stuff, so...I generally don't.
