Intelligence testing is broken down into 4 areas (if you are going with the Wechsler IV): #1 Verbal Comprehension #2 Perceptual Reasoning #3 Working Memory #4 Processing Speed If one of the areas has a score that is 20 points+ lower than the other areas it can help with the diagnosis and type of ADHD. I know, I know, standardized testing isn't 100% reliable in every situation; but in my case it seems to ring fairly true. I have around a 25 point gap between processing speed and my lowest score of the other 3. I apologize that I don't have the tests in front of me to give you firm numbers. It could be a mix of ADHD-I http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ADHD_predominantly_inattentive and SGT http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sluggish_cognitive_tempo I will say that my hand eye coordination has always been an issue, never could play sports; and my parents thought that I was dislexic during my preschool years. I think that the combination of adult symptoms across those two articles should give you a good picture of what I deal with. I have coping mechanisms to hide it most days so life goes on without medication; we all have our own challenges.

Rough day? Need to vent? feel free if you do.

I am happy to hear that you are in a good place; you are rocking it out for the whole world to see and I am blessed to have a front row seat! Work's been a bear this week, can't seem to shake my procrastination habit. On the plus side, I did just tick off 9 months on Sunday.

rules are things we create for other people to follow, they don't actually apply to us.

I admit to 50% of that statement SNOW - our first snowfall of the season was last night!

Well, I guess it is "no shave November" so hippies are "in" this month. Welcom to the forum. You have had a ton of pain in your life and it sounds like you have used drugs to cover it up. As far as quitting goes, life never hands us softballs and you will have adderall whispering lies in your ears the whole time during withdrawls and PAWS. The added burden of children and stress of living with your mom also contributes to the difficulty of your situation. The upside is that you will be an improved version of your normal, beautiful, original self once you make it through the rough patches and your kids will benefit from that greatly (I know I put mine through some bad times). Thank you for being honest about your situation. If you decide to quit, we are here to help!

Yeah, it was a special weekend since mom was on a mini vacation. Most of the time I try to make sure that we eat wild game at home since it is a lot healthier.

Wow lunax, I can't believe that you are so close to the finish line here! You have come a long way from where you started, I am amazed at your progress. @FW - you are 70% of the way there, how is the week treating you otherwise? Happier than a camel on Wednesday I hope (love that commercial).

Question about moving away to help stop the Adderall addiction...
JustinW replied to w222s550's topic in General Discussion
Having a victim mentality will not help you get anywhere in life; you need to own your circumstances because they are a result of your choices. Since you have an addictive personality maybe you should consider some sort of out patient care to help you quit? My concern with moving away is that you will lose your support structure, regardless of how small it may be. You should consider telling your doctor to cut off your supply in order to help you stay quit. -
I disagree and I find this somewhat offensive. Adderall is a bad solution to a real problem. You may be the victim of an overprescribed culture but there are those of us with real issues that you have just marginalized. My diagnosis is a noteable deficiency in my visual processing ability, there are things I can do to boost that ability a couple of points but the gap in this area will still be significant. Of the different flavors of ADHD, this one sees the least benefit from any type of drug.

I have experienced these feelings, but I am only at 9 mos. so I would hope that your progress is beyond mine.

crumbling can be a sign of dehydration, please make sure to stay well hydrated! I know it's been a brutal couple of weeks for you and it couldn't come at a more inopportune time but you WILL make it through this and you WILL be a stronger person because you are a fighter!
-
The track record of this drug is that your body will build up a tolerance and you will need to increase your dosage in order to realize benefits from taking it. My advice is that you consider staying off because you are on a relatively low dose and it should be less of a crash; but there will be about a year of crap to deal with during withrdawl regardless of when you quit. It will be easier on your body to cope with withdrawl at a younger age than later in life also. That's my two cents but you need to do what is best for you and as always, you should consult a medical professional regarding any mental health issues or questions you might have instead of listening to some schmuck on the interwebs; insert death, dismemberment, instability, and anal leakage clause here...

Lost yes, but that means that we can still find them again; much better than "gone"!

lazy - kind of grinding it out today screwing off a little bit here and there

@SS9 - way to go! Almost to the halfway mark on 30 days and you are 20% of your way to 60 - rock on @FW - Keep it up lady, you've got this. Your positive outlook has carried so many of us through some dark times. I am grateful for your contributions to this community!

ZK - you have a gift for words that resonates with so many of us.

We'll start calling you Lilo for short LOL

I used to geek out on fixing or building anything. On adderall I purchased literally tons of tools / machine tools; my garage shop is now well equipped but I don't have the energy or vision to organize the thing and thus I have soured on building things. My major build project at work has stalled (I keep making budgetary excuses to cover my butt). When I start working on something now I have no stamina and peter out after a short time. Somehow I managed to put a new battery, starter, and windshield washer pump in the truck last week but I didn't enjoy turning a wrench like I used to.

I'm not sure why you are here, but as Cassie said, "we are here to support people who want to get off it". Please be mindful of what you say and how you say it as there are those of us that are struggling to remove this addiction from our lives and putting adderall in a positive light may cause someone to stumble. It sounds like you have some self examination to conduct to answer your question. If you don't see a reason to quit, then it isn't the right time for you to do so.

Tipping my hat to you both!

There's always room for another SS @FW - Not eating after 7 is a great idea. Eating within 2 hours of bedtime increases chances of acid reflux; and that's no fun. Keep pressing on toward the mark everyone!

The kids insisted on going to a buffet on Friday and Saturday this weekend, so I hear you on the binge eating thing. I know; bad parenting.

I try to drink a lot less now that I have quit adderall, it doesn't really help to add a depressant in when you are already in a weakened mental state.
