  1. Out of curiousity, was the rehab center one of the Teen Challenge facilities? I have heard great things about their programs. I agree with your mentor that you shouldn't be looking for an excuse to use certain drugs. I think that your pastor is closer to correct but it doesn't sound like he gave you a good scriptural basis for his explanation. Consider this, medications can have the same affect as alcohol on a person, but alcohol use is not condemned in the Bible, only drunkeness (Eph. 5:18). Drunkeness is the state where alcohol has control over the person; so one should avoid medications that also cause the person to have a lack of control. While on adderall, I allowed it to control me and I exhibited quite a few of the traits described in Gal. 5:19-21; a much more fulfilling life is experienced by someone who exhibits the traits found in the verses that directly follow that passage (Gal. 5:22-23). Maybe that helps, maybe it doesn't. I hope that you continue to be well.
  2. Just grind it out man; there will be a period of time that flat out sucks but it will end and things will start to get better.
  3. Now that is a great post, Lunax I am really cheering for you and your attitude is awesome! I held on to my pills for a long time just because I didn't have the strength to get rid of them. The feeling of having them there was indescribable and I can't justify why I felt that I needed them. How is that for a non answer?
  4. Welcome to the forum! Don't beat yourself up too much about your 4 year old escaping; they are full of mischief at that age (my 5 year old son is a lot of fun). You are pregnant and coming off adderall so you are going to be uber worn out. Keep up the good work on your quit.
  5. Your feelings are normal, but you WILL get better, you WILL recover, and you WILL be able to get most of your old personality back. I say most because we can never revert 100% back to our old selves as we have matured and evolved into slightly different people due to life circumstances.
  6. We just celebrated our 12 year anniversary yesterday, and let me tell you, rediculous and out of control arguments happen. If you are not fighting, there is nothing worth fighting for! (I know poor grammar ending a sentence with a preposition) Lunax and Freedom's Wings you guys are doing awesome, keep it up and thank you for the updates! Please remember that neither of you is ever truly alone. Freedom's Wings, I love your posts and their format. I have to laugh at myself when reading them because it takes me a long time to get through them as I have many "squirrel" moments with the different fonts and colors.
  7. Congratulations on 1 year! You are an inspiration to us all. Thank you for your contributions to this forum.
  8. I'm sorry to hear that things are rough today, I don't have a regiment for you just some well wishes. You aren't the only one to get upset at Wholefoods: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/kelly-maclean/surviving-whole-foods_b_3895583.html
  9. Hang in ther FW, you are allowed to have "rocky" days.
  10. Ok, I'm in a little bit of a shame spiral because I haven't been able to knock this stuff off my list, got yelled at by my wife about cleaning my office and the garage, and I'm working late tonight so I can't get anything done at home. Does anyone else struggle with this?
  11. turmoil - we were not made free only to become slaves again
  12. Well, there's 3 people who are telling you that you aren't crazy for wanting to quit cold turkey. They covered it so well that there just isn't much left to say other than I know that you can do this, you have shown incredible strength by being honest with people you know and don't know so you are strong enough to kick this.
  13. Keep owning this guys, congrats Lunax on 50%!
  14. But I like believing my own B.S.
  15. Considering your past and present experience, I would say that an inpatient care facility might be the best course of action. I hope that you will be able to get well soon. Welcome to the forum!
  16. If I were a stronger person I would post a link for you LOL
  17. I was given some sort of medication for heart or blood pressure issues before doing a TV interview to help take the edge off my nerves and it was not a pleasant experience to watch or read the Star Tribune article afterward. Lots of "umm"s, "you know"s, and unintelligible crap. Be yourself, you don't need to go down the road of reliance on another drug. Love the picture of "word vomit" almost as good as "diarrhea of the mouth". Good luck with your interviews regardless of the decision you make; I know that you will be successful and I think that you do too.
  18. I've always had the attitude that I'll figure things out and have a direction for my life when I grow up; the thing is I don't want to grow up. Seriously, NOBODY has got it figured out. I have been miserable at my job for years and Adderall actually made things palateable. Since quitting, I have been able to find ways to make it through the day so I can use it to support a lifestyle that focuses on things that truly make me happy. This is a much better existance. I am not espousing being complacent but for the first time I am puttng less pressure on myself to figure out my next career step (this one was a bit of a step down, but still executive level). I am excited for you because you have sooo many exciting opportunities available right now and the possibilities are endless for what you could end up doing for the next step in your career and life plus you have spent some time realizing that being a workaholic is not what we were put on earth to do. Too many "I"s in that paragraph, sorry about that. My life isn't perfect and I have bad days, but things are way better than they have been in the past year. Thanks for asking. Now for that little b*****d mutt next door...
  19. I think that you could benefit from doing some volunteer work; it would get you out of the house and connected with people. There are plenty of charities that just need people to donate their time and show up. You will be surprised at how much you get back.
