  1. Here is another one! Yes, we definitely need a "don't sugar coat the quit" string.
  2. Well, I was looking for the "real" quit post and this is the best I can find. Maybe we should start a topic...
  3. Super awesome!!! Great job idonttan! It just gets better from here!
  4. Since I am on a LCHF diet, I have to get my fat from somewhere. The butter and heavy cream help me to get the fat in, and it keeps me satisfied longer in the morning. I have a mug in the evening, too. Sometimes I miss sweetness in my coffee, but not much...
  5. Quit-once, is that German Shepherd your dog or just a stock photo? We just got a GSD puppy. First puppy in 7 years, and I am tired!
  6. We started my daughter on ADHD meds when she was 6 years old. When I quit Adderall, I took her off of her Concerta, too. We used to say that she was very immature and delayed emotionally compared to her friends and classmates. I really believe that she stopped progressing at 6 years old with the introduction of the stimulants. Almost two years later, she is starting to mature and acts more like a 10 or 11 year old. She is 13, but still immature compared to the other kids. I am just grateful that she is progressing. All of this is to say that I know how scary it must be to start living without the thing that made you who you are. BUT, you can be anything you want to be and without Adderall you will find out what that is. Best choice we ever made! No more stimulants, ever.
  7. Part of the addiction for me was taking a pill every morning. I tried caffeine pills and herbal supplements, until finally I quit taking them all. It was like smoking was for me...every part of smoking was addictive. Getting the pack ready to open, sniffing the new cigarettes, lighting it up, watching the smoke as I blew it out...I had to quit it all. You all know I quit everything cold turkey, but I continued to try to find a pill to take every morning for several months. Should have stopped it cold turkey, too...
  8. I did the Color Me Rad 5K on Saturday. So much colorful fun! I didn't run the whole thing, but I kept up a good pace the whole time.
  9. How exciting for you to get to discover yourself! Because that is what you are about to do. Who are you? Even without the Adderall years, you would be a different person at 29 than you were at 11. So...go figure it out. Give yourself some time to recover without any pressure to "be" anything for now. Then, when you are ready, find a hobby. Start getting out there, and find yourself. I am so happy for your 6 days clean! You can do this! Welcome to the site!
  10. Let go of the drug. It can't hold on to you, you are holding on to it. Let it go... There can be happiness after the meds. It just takes time and a restructuring of your priorities, IMO.
  11. I think the improvement in sex drive may be mainly for women. I think it has a lot to do with the emotional requirements for women to have sex. No emotional desire=no sexual desire for a lot of us ladies. Adderall, therefore, causes sex drive to go down for us. When the emotions return, so does desire to be intimate. I am no expert...just a theory of mine. Men are completely different, so I can see how the removal of Adderall would cause different issues for y'all. As for the weight gain, your metabolism has been knocked back to sloth times...even if you were not one before Adderall. It takes time to rebuild it. Without Adderall, you will never have a hummingbird's metabolism again. However, you can be a normally functioning human being. It just takes time and effort. Stick to the exercise and eat right...you will be there before you know it! Great job on 3 months. It was my most difficult time, as well.
  12. I will remember that when I go to Disney in May...I will have to take some raw spinach with me.
  13. I feel amazing! I won't be going back to wheat and sugar, ever! Once I hit my ideal weight I may have a cheat day here and there with rice or corn, but never sugar or wheat again.
  14. Your inner addict tells you that you are better on the pills. It is lying to you. You may think you are better, but everyone around you notices that you are not yourself. You may be thin, but you are unhealthy. You may be able to work harder, but it is less quality. That is what I mean by it being a lie. Also, you have to continue to increase the dose to keep it working the same. I quit rather than increase my dose again. I didn't want the psychosis and volatile mood swings anymore. Or the anhedonia...it feels good to laugh again.
  15. I never used Adderall for anything other than what it was prescribed for, and never at any dose higher than prescribed. I am, however, an addict whose life was nearly ruined by Adderall. Don't get started down that road...
  16. I don't drink sugar or artificial sweeteners of any sort. But, I love my coffee with butter and heavy whipping cream! Bullet Proof Coffee!
  17. I love caffeine. I would never say to quit caffeine. Just for the record...
  18. The desire to eat constantly does go away, but it takes a while for your metabolism to recover enough to start losing the weight. The best advice I can give is to get active as soon as you feel like you can stand it. Go for walks, do a few jumping jacks. Good luck with that though...it took me over 10 months to feel like I wanted to exercise and longer than that to actually do it. Good news is, the weight will come off eventually. Let yourself heal, don't go back to the Adderall, and worry about the weight in a few months. Try to limit the carbs while you are recovering, too. I know it is easier said than done. I craved carbs constantly in the beginning of my quit. I gained 40 pounds in the first 4 months after I quit. I am within 5 pounds of my pre quit weight. Finally. But, I am 25 pounds from my ideal weight. I had started gaining even with the Adderall. It happens eventually. Might as well quit while you are young and it is easier to rebuild your metabolism. Good luck and welcome to the forum!
  19. Once the physical withdrawal is gone, you must learn how to deal with the psychological withdrawal. That is what goes on for so long. The idea that it will make everything better, is a lie! Weight loss, motivation, and energy...short term benefits which don't last. Remember that.
  20. You have a beautiful writing style, by the way! I truly enjoy your posts. I hope that you can convince him to not go get that refill...
  21. My husband told me to just go get my prescription refilled a couple of times during my quit... He is happier now, though.
  22. Just paying it forward. I am 20 months clean because of LILTEX, QuitOnce, and so many others. You will be doing the same thing in a year or so, I just know it!
